On the 24th day of Christmas…

Mr . Awesome Boyfriend and I made homemade cookies and fudge.  I told him after Thanksgiving that I wanted to make fudge and cookies for our friends. It was a tradition passes from my grandpa who was a master cookie maker. I knew of the basic recipe but Mr. Awesome Boyfriend found a unforgettable peanut butter chocolate fudge recipe and a traditional chocolate and nut. We decided to do our chocolate chip cookies with a twist. Semi Sweet chocolate and white chocolate with walnuts.  Yum and last but not least milk chocolate with butterscotch and pecans. Double yum!

These don’t just belong in a zip lock baggy… oh no, we got something special. Little book boxes from our local craft store.

Just place some tissue paper for absorbing any butter and it looks great!

Then, make a pretty little bow and voilà… tasty treats wrapped with love.

On the 16th day of Christmas…

Birdy girl got a friend! Well, we got him a few months ago but I wanted to make sure birdy girl liked him enough to stay. He is pretty as a camp fire. We got him at the same petshop we got birdy girl. He is definitely a boy… he has a pretty singing voice. Birdy girl swooned for him. They are best friends now although she looks at him funny when he does something stupid. They even sit on the same branch like snuggle birdies.

You can take the Science out the girl but you can’t take Girl in Pigtails out of Science!

On History Channel 2 there is an amazing show called Big History. They have a new concept that history is not just a liner line of events that effect the human race. History is a web of events that connects us to our beginnings and space. One episode that caught my fancy is about Salt.  We (all life) need salt to survive… period. Roads are actually built because we followed animals (that we hunt) to nautral salt beds. Amazing! We can also thank horses for the creation of pants. I love this show!

Tis the Season!

This time of year is amazing. It make you think of what is important in your life. I am so blessed to have a wonderful job that brings pleasure to people. I am almost done with my Bachelor’s degree (Dec.24th is finals) and to have support and love from family and friends.

On the first day of December…

I was able to enjoy my tree! [Singing Voice] So, last year I made it my mission to create a beautiful Christmas tree for under $75. It was a huge success! This year money wasn’t a concern and I just wanted a really pretty tree. To my surprise, our tree and decore was a total of $120. We got a 4-5ft real noble fur at Home Depot. Then, inside we were just going to get a stand but found the Martha Stewart collection of ornaments. We wanted a red and gold theme this year and found a great set that had different types of ornaments too! They also sell smelly sticks you can hang in the tree to keep it smelling fresh all month. The pine cones aren’t just for looks… they smell like Christmas! At Walmart, we got the tree skirt and wreath (for the door). Everything else we had from last year… the star topper and stockings. Well, we did get an official stocking for birdy boy.

Why did the chicken cross the road?

Answer: to become delicious

This chicken dinner is my new favorite!  It may be a little pricey but you pay for deliciousness and convenience. You can find the stuffed jalapeño cheese and bacon chicken at your friendly Danville Safeway in the premium meat counter. Prep your over at 375 degrees then, cook your awesome chicken on a cookie sheet for 25min on the middle rack. It comes out perfect plus I use a reusable pan liner so there is no mess or sticking to the pan. The best part of the chicken is the cheesy inside.  I love my cheese! It is about a medium spicy level so, if you are scared at the sight of hot sauce you may want to try the chicken cordon blue. It is just as tasty.  The chickens don’t look big but I was stuffed after I ate one.

I wash a medium size sweet potato with just water and brush.  Then, I wrap the potato in a sheet or two of paper towel. About 10min before the chicken is done, I microwave the potato for about 6-8min depending on the size. Cut into half to split with two people and cut into cubes. I used a little butter, fresh ground salt and pepper and voilà yummy potato!
I bought a Safeway pre-made cobb salad and just tossed in a big bowl and (yup) split between two people.
A nice merlot went great with the chicken dinner. Rutherford Merlot 2013 also found at Safeway.

R.I.P.

It was a good car… we got her back Sunday and on Wednesday; she died. Right now all we know is that we have transmission issues. Hope to get her back up and running soon.

60-100mph test

60-100mph test

Holy Horses! I have a DashDaq and did a speed test starting at 60MPH to 100MPH in 3.70seconds. Oh and I only had it in fourth gear! This car is a beast that I will train! Weight is a huge factor and can be the difference in seconds. I did this test a few times with Mr. Awesome Boyfriend and could only get about 4.1seconds. Then, he got out of the car and I snatched the 3.7seconds. So SWEET! I am still trying to get comfortable switching from 3rd to 4th gear and the right RPM’s. I am so nervous that I will switch to the gear of death… (which is going really fast and then switching to a low gear). I will get comfortable soon.
